Noah was an upright man who walked with God.
He listened to God and did what God said.
Many people were hurting others, and God told
Noah that a great flood was coming.
He told Noah to build an ark, and Noah obeyed.
Noah's sons were Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Noah and his wife, his three sons and
their wives would enter the ark.
Eight people altogether.
Noah stored food for the family and the animals,
and then his family entered the ark.
Animals came too, just as God had said,
and God shut them in.
Inside, Noah and his family fed the animals
and kept them safe.
Rain fell for forty days and forty nights,
and water covered the mountains.
The flood destroyed life on land, but those
inside the ark survived.
God remembered Noah and the animals.
He sent a wind, and the waters began
to go down.
The ark rested on the mountains.
Later, Noah sent out a raven.
Then he sent a dove to look for
dry land, but it found nowhere to rest and returned.
Noah waited seven more days and sent the
dove out a second time.
That evening, it returned with a fresh olive leaf.
The water was going down!
After seven more days, Noah sent the dove
out once more, and this time it did
not come back.
Noah waited until God told the family to leave.
Then all eight came out onto dry ground,
and the animals came out too.
Noah built an altar and worshiped God.
God promised that a flood would never again
destroy all life on earth, and the rainbow
was the sign of his promise to every living creature.
